VBP+ pleased with the expansion of Cargill certified sustainable sourcing to Eastern Canada.

Verified Beef Production Plus (VBP+) congratulates Cargill on the successful completion of the audit to the Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef’s (CRSB) Chain of Custody requirements through the Certified Sustainable Beef Framework (CSBF), and the certification of its Guelph beef processing facility. VBP+ appreciates Cargill’s commitment to not only source beef from certified sustainable operations but also to reward producers for their on-farm activities.

VBP+ certified beef operations have contributed to the success of the previous Certified Sustainable Beef Acceleration (CSBA) pilot and the transition into Cargill’s certified sustainable sourcing program that exists today. With this increased capacity in Eastern Canada and the opportunity to expand the supply of certified sustainable beef available for retail and foodservice partners comes the opportunity for more certified beef producers across Canada to contribute to this important program.

VBP+ is uniquely positioned to offer training and certification services to beef producers, across Canada and in all sectors. VBP+ is a certification body for the CRSB with equivalency to the Certified Sustainable Beef Framework. Operations that are certified by VBP+ are eligible to participate in certified sustainable sourcing programs. The addition of the Cargill Guelph beef processing facility, as well as continuing sourcing from the Cargill High River facility,  expands the opportunity for cattle to successfully move through the certified sustainable supply chain and qualify through harvest at a certified sustainable facility.

“This is a significant development for producers seeking to contribute to certified sustainable beef sourcing and the great story it tells for our consumers,” says Shannon Argent, VBP+ Business Manager. “The more opportunity for cattle to qualify through the chain, increases supply available for retail and foodservice partners and allows beef producers to be rewarded for the good work they do everyday to contribute to beef sustainability.”

Verified Beef Production Plus (VBP+) félicite Cargill pour la réussite de l’audit des exigences de la Table ronde canadienne sur le bœuf durable (TRBCD) en matière de traçabilité du bœuf par l’entremise du Certified Sustainable Beef Framework (CSBF), et pour la certification de son usine de transformation du bœuf de Guelph. VBP+ salue l’engagement de Cargill non seulement à s’approvisionner en bœuf provenant d’exploitations certifiées durables, mais aussi à récompenser les producteurs pour leurs activités à la ferme.

Les exploitations de bœuf certifiées du programme VBP+ ont contribué au succès du précédent projet pilote Certified Sustainable Beef Acceleration (CSBA) et à la transition vers le programme d’approvisionnement durable certifié de Cargill qui existe aujourd’hui. Avec cette capacité accrue et la possibilité d’élargir l’offre de bœuf certifié durable disponible pour les partenaires de la vente au détail et de la restauration, un plus grand nombre de producteurs de bœuf certifié partout au Canada ont la possibilité de contribuer à cet important programme.

VBP+ est particulièrement bien placé pour offrir des services de formation et de certification aux producteurs de bœuf, partout au Canada et dans tous les secteurs. VBP+ est un organisme de certification pour le CSBF avec équivalence au Certified Sustainable Beef Framework. Les exploitations qui sont certifiées par le programme VBP+ peuvent participer aux programmes d’approvisionnement durable certifié. L’ajout de l’installation de transformation du bœuf de Cargill à Guelph, ainsi que l’approvisionnement continu de l’installation de Cargill High River, élargit les possibilités pour le bétail de passer avec succès dans la chaîne d’approvisionnement durable certifiée et de se qualifier grâce une installation durable certifiée.

« Il s’agit d’un développement important pour les producteurs qui souhaitent contribuer à l’approvisionnement en bœuf certifié durable et a créé une relation privilégiée avec nos consommateurs », déclare Shannon Argent, directrice commerciale du programme VBP+. « Plus les bovins ont la possibilité de se qualifier tout au long de la chaîne, plus l’offre disponible pour les partenaires de la vente au détail et de la restauration est importante, et plus les producteurs de viande bovine peuvent être récompensés pour le bon travail qu’ils font chaque jour pour contribuer à la durabilité de la viande bovine. »
