Records demonstrate that an operation is implementing practices required under the VBP+ standard. These records don’t have to be complex or elaborate. A VBP+ assessor will look for information recorded on a range of topics, including records for animal health and treatment, feed and water, animal care and handling, transportation, environmental stewardship and traceability. Complete descriptions of required records is available in the VBP+ Producer Manual.
Click the document links below to view templates of common records that are useful across all aspects of an operation and program areas. These documents are provided as templates only, and records may be maintained in a variety of formats. For example, beef cattle producers may keep records on paper, in downloadable tables, or through animal health and management software. What matters most is that the required information is recorded clearly and consistently. Each blank template includes a completed sample for reference. These examples are provided to illustrate general record-keeping practices and to assist producers in creating their own templates or identifying how existing records (including software-based records) can meet VBP+ requirements on their operation.
