CRSB Certification

The Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (CRSB) oversees the Certified Sustainable Beef Framework. The standards set out by the framework are aligned with the requirements of the VBP+ program, and are verified on-farm by third-party assessors.

When certified with VBP+, you automatically become certified with CRSB. As one of three certification bodies for CRSB, VBP+ can provide CRSB certification in the same on-farm assessment when a producer seeks certification with VBP+. This means less time and effort for producers.

With CRSB certification, producers gain access to incentive programs such as Cargill’s implementation of the Certified Sustainable Beef Framework, the FCC Sustainability Incentive Program and the CRSB Certified Producer Incentive.

CRSB/Sustainable Beef Certification & Related Incentives  

  • Simultaneous CRSB certification to the Canadian Roundtable for Sustainable Beef (CRSB)’s Sustainable Beef Production Standard, which also provides the following incentive opportunities:
  • Eligibility for per head payments through Cargill’s Qualifying Cattle Credit program 
  • Eligibility for Farm Credit Canada’s Sustainability Incentive Program – up to $4,000 annually in direct cash payments based on eligible FCC lending for FCC clients who are CRSB Certified
  • Eligibility for the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada AgriInvest program – all CRSB-certified beef producers that require an agri-environmental risk assessment (AERA) to participate in AgriInvest can leverage their certification to qualify for the government contribution. 
  • Opportunities for specialized beef production and marketing, including direct to consumer, with the help of the CRSB+ Certified stamp.
